Endeavour to be leaders in other spheres of life after school. For this success, you must be disciplined, be a hard working leader and a person who loves team spirit.

Where were you on Friday 3rd September 2021? Well, for us as St Jude Catholic Primary school fraternity, it was a day filled with pomp and colour as the newly elected student leadership was taking an oath of office. What a way to celebrate it than to have Pastoral Director at the Roman Catholic Chaplain KDF Chaplaincy, Col (Fr) Maingi gracing the event? During the occasion, the newly elected president-John Mark, his deputy- Zita Wangari, and the cabinet secretaries were sworn into office.
Hail John and Zita!

John Mark (7 M) and Zita Wangari (6 V)- pictured above– were each elected independently by the students in an election that was full of rhetoric and bravados that are a culture in our country’s political atmosphere. Manifestos, promises and counter promises were tabled and made respectively by the aspirants at the assembly grounds, in classes and during any other available opportunity within the school schedule. This was the first time that the elections were restricted to only upper primary school, from grade four, as a way of reducing interactions with the lower primary during campaigns in a measure to help contain the Covid-19 virus.
The new leadership is taking over from their predecessors who served their one term in the office. John Mark is taking the mantle from the charismatic Roy Kinyua who recently completed his primary level of education and graduated to secondary. Zita on the other hand is getting the tools of power as the deputy from the multi-talented, iron lady and the industrious Michelle Kirwa.
The tools of power were handed over to the newly elected leaders, on their behalf, by the outgoing deputies in the last regime-Yefta Komora and Sandra Rop. The two (Yefta and Sandra) served for a non-renewable one term in the office. Yefta is currently the candidate’s governor, the topmost position in class leadership with Sandra holding the senatorial position at the same level.
Col (Fr) Maingi honoured the invite by the school leadership led by the Headteacher Sister Maria Wilma to bestow the leadership badges to the newly elected team. The Guest of Honour congratulated the President, the Deputy President and their Cabinet Secretaries, encouraging them to endeavour to be leaders in other spheres of life after school. He further emphasized discipline, hard work and team spirit as key qualities to this success.
The school leadership through Sr Maria Wilma thanked Col Father Maingi and the KDF leadership for their continued mentorship programme to school students. The session helped debunk the myth that the public has had about the Disciplined Forces. The event was a clear indication that the military officers are humans. It was a call for the students and the public to see them as our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, husbands, uncles friends and many more and therefore, should be treated with utmost respect and friendship.
Who is this cool guest of honour, Col (Fr) Maingi?
Col (Fr) Maingi is an alumnus of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, an institution where he completed his Masters in Pastoral Theology after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Pontifical Urbaniana University. Father Maingi was ordained on 9th November 1996 for the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru. He is currently assisting in the day to day operations of the pastoral office as a Pastoral Director with the roman catholic chaplain KDF chaplaincy.
The new office will be in power for a one-year term there which elections will be held again to elect the new leadership. Here are cliques and clicks of this fun-filled event:
