School Librarian Position
St Jude Catholic School is a day school located in Donholm, Nairobi, specializing in basic education from preschool to junior school. We are committed to providing a nurturing learning environment for our students. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to join our team as a School Librarian.
Job Summary
The School Librarian will lead the planning and development of our primary and junior school library in collaboration with teachers, school management, and associated teams.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Library and Information Science, Library Science, or Records Management.

Experience in a school library setting is advantageous.

Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with Google Suite platforms.
Key Responsibilities
-
Organizing and categorizing library materials.
-
Assisting library users in accessing and utilizing E-books, Audiobooks, and Audiovisuals.
-
Maintaining the condition of library materials and managing replacements for lost or damaged items.

Collaborating with publishers and vendors to ensure an up-to-date catalogue of books.

Budget preparation and managing fines for damages or losses.

Overseeing day-to-day library operations.

Coordinating engaging library events with school management and students.

Generating library reports and inventory when required.

Performing any other duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies:

Minimum of two years’ experience in a reputable institution.

Ability to position the library as a vital learning resource center.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Creativity and innovation in library management.

Effective planning and organizational abilities.

Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
